What the media won't tell you about the Virginia gubernatorial elections |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 01:18 PM by majamay
The media won't shut up pretending that Obama must have a negative effect on Democrats because the Democratic candidate in the Virginia race today will likely lose the elections. But they won't tell you this very important fact: The last 9 VA Governor elections have been won by the candidate of the party opposite to the U.S. President's:
Mills E. Godwin, Jr. January 12, 1974 Republican John N. Dalton January 14, 1978 Republican Chuck Robb January 16, 1982 Democratic Gerald L. Baliles January 18, 1986 Democratic Douglas Wilder January 14, 1990 Democratic George Allen January 15, 1994 Republican Jim Gilmore January 17, 1998 Republican Mark Warner January 12, 2002 Democratic Tim Kaine January 14, 2006 Democratic
You wouldn't know that this pattern will simply continue today by reading or listening to what the over-analyzing pundits have to say.

2. i'm pretty sure a republican was president in '74... |
|
Ironically, Godwin's first term as governor in 1966 was as a democrat, and LBJ was in office...

3. I could care less who wins in Virginia |

I don't live there. But VA and NJ and that upstate NY race have no bearing on what may happen in 2010 or 2012 and it's not a referendum on Obama.
And all that pattern stuff is BS too. They are giving themselves too much credit.
