One year since 11/04/08, do you approve or disapprove of President Obama's job performance thus far? |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-31-09 11:22 PM by Politics_Guy25
It's your chance to go on the record DU! Do you approve or disapprove in general of President Obama's job performance thus far?
I would have started a poll but it's been so long since I last donated that I no longer can.
Don't be shy though. Just type in approve or disapprove and go on the record. It'll be fun!
Needless to say, I strongly approve.
Unfortunately, I am asking whether or not you approve or disapprove not if you 50% approve, 25% approve, approve on Mondays but not Thursdays, etc.
Generally and in totality do you approve of the president's job performance in leading the nation, on foreign policy and on domestic policy?

they'd rather just unrec the thread. This is better than a poll anyway since people could just hit and run. I'm glad you agree with me. :hi:

most modern presidents, and he gets credit for nothing, blamed for everything. He's taken care of a pirate situation, improved our standing in the world making us the most admired country up from the 7th, he's improved the economy, signed legislation for hate crimes and equal pay, allowed for embryonic stem cell research, and things I can't think of right now.

18. The Bush nightmare all makes sense now, however |
|
Without Bush, there would have been no Obama. Funny how lemons turn into lemonade. I suffered for 7 years wondering how on earth we were stuck with Bush until the Obama candidacy came along and then it all made sense.
No way would the democrats have had 20 years of unimpeded W.H. rule. 8 years of Clinton and 8 years of Gore would almost certainly have led to a GOP victory in 2008.
It all is easier to endure if you look at it that way.

He doesn't grandstand, he just gets the job done.
I'm worried about healthcare, the war, and the economy in no particular order -- but President Obama just keeps on keeping on, and I trust he is doing the best he can given the circumstances.

17. I totally approve of everything he's been able to accomplish in 8 months or so. |
|
It took 8 years for Bush to destroy the Country and almost the World -- I am so grateful for everything that my President has done to stop the slide into a Depression, and for being earnest. I couldn't be happier.
Actually, I would be happier if the asshole vocal minority and their minions at Faux News would stfu and get out of the way so we can fix things. For those that whine that he hasn't done enough... it's 8 months, the repukes have been obstructionists every step of the way, and the corporate media has been busting his chops every single day. He's done amazingly well considering what he's up against. I'm not one of those people that cling so hard to my own selfish self-interests, that I can't see the good he's done, nor am I one of those poseurs who claim to suddenly dislike him because he got so popular (like your friends on fb, or twitter, who regularly announce that they hate it now, because it's so popular and they're too cool for it.

Henry Paulson, who was Bush43's Secretary of Treasury. Guess where Paulson came from? He was ex-chairman at Goldman Sachs, the biggest and baddest outfit on Wall Street! Guess what he wanted? Billions in TARP money to bail out his buddies and cohorts on Wall Street who had gotten in trouble by writing derivatives and creating A rated Bonds made up of sub-prime mortgage tranches. Paulson owns millions of shares in Goldman Sachs and obviously did not want it to go the route of Lehman Brothers into Bankruptcy. The dumbass Bush panicked and gave OK to Paulson to go ahead with the "emergency rescue" of Wall Street Bankers.
Now we are all stuck with the humongous debt to pay for all this baloney and will be paying China Billions in interest every fricking year for ever since there is no surplus money in the federal budget to pay back the principal. This whole mess makes Bernie Madoff look like a piker.

Bush left this country so fucked up, I feel really sorry for Obama and him having to deal with this mess. Added to that, the repukes have gone into full melt-down mode which means those in congress are sticking their fingers in their ears and yelling 'LA LA LA LA LA' and refusing to do anything to drag this country back from the brink; meanwhile the off-the-wall-wackjobs like Taitz and Beck rant on the sidelines and get the 20% base worked up into a rabid Obama-hating frenzy which means death threats are up 400% on him.
He can't have had any idea what a shit-storm he was walking into.

35. How about we change that date?? Obama was elected on 11/04/08 |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 12:57 PM by windbreeze
however, he did NOT take office until Jan. 20, 2009...AND IF I RECALL correctly...the, at that time, sitting prez...did NOTHING to help the transition either...including allowing Obama/family to stay in the lodgings new pres's usually stay in BEFORE they actually take office...so how can you hold him responsible for the dates before Jan.20th, as though he was in charge??? just curious....wb
ps: considering the condition this country was left in by the last administration...I think he's doing pretty damned good...I think a lot of people expected him to wiggle his nose and straighten everything out...reality dictates, that IS/WAS impossible expectations...I just hope that those who are in such a big hurry, do NOT screw things up in 2010

SNL said it so well.
What has Obama accomplished.
Well, let see what has he promised he would do asap and compare it to what he has actually DONE.
Close Gitmo........... NO
Out of Iraq............. NO
Improve Afghanistan............. NO
Health Care Reform.................... NO Global Warming........ NO (not even sure he'll go to Denmark)
Immigration Reform.... NO
Gays in Military........... NO
Limits on Executive Power...........HA
Torture Prosecutions.....Don't Hold Your Breath
Before you jump all over me read some history and see the amazing things that FDR actually did in his first One Hundred Days.
"Nothing To Fear: FDR's Inner Circle and the Hundred Days that Created Modern America"
by Adam Cohen
Obama has been in office for 285 days.
What a difference between these two administrations and, obviously, between these two men.

I'm not keen on the slowness with DOMA and DADT, and would have preferred a larger stimulus, but by and large, I'm pleased with the overall direction this President is taking - a FAR cry from the idiocy of the past 8 years. Those who say Obama=Bush are just as delusional as the freepers who call him a radical Socialist. BOTH need brain implantaion surgery.
