When the job of the secretary of defense is largely diplomacy. I don’t think they have one capable diplomat in this whole in administration. The military pretty much runs itself on the chain of command. The secretary of defense should be involved in geopolitical matters, not the day-to-day running of the army. But of course that’s pretty difficult not very sexy. Diplomacy requires a lot of work.
