There were better messengers to run a "values" campaign [View all]

There were better messengers to run a values campaign, but there was only one candidate who tried, and the results speak for themselves. I think Warren could have pulled it off, but as a woman she wasn't given the space to, and had to go all-wonk all the time while men with equally ambitious plans were simply taken at face value. The woman who did her homework was the only one asked questions about the homework. As in high school, so in the rest of life.

But this election will not be decided based on who proposes what eligibility for medicaid or what top marginal tax rate. There are better and worse answers to those questions, but they don't really move voters. This election will be decided based on several hundred million individuals asking "which of these two candidates sees me?", and we only had one candidate who ran on that.

We now have a presumptive nominee who has never owned a share of stock and only got a savings account within the past decade. He spent two decades riding the Amtrack from DC to DE because that's who he was. He's lost so many people he loved in such horrible ways but has continued to work for the things they and he care and believe about.

I know there's an insurmountable liberal flex right now to say "Biden? Sure, I guess, anything is better than Trump", but I'm not going to join in it. Obama picked him for a reason, as did the voters of my party.

Joe, for the people, in 2020.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
