Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Latest Statement from DeWine [View all]Sloumeau
(2,657 posts)13. This is such garbage.
No one is required to endanger their health. If I had a regular influenza bug on voting day, and I had not arranged for an absentee ballot or to vote by mail, I simply could choose not to vote. That has always been my right. Everyone has the right to choose not to vote if they think that it will make them sick. This line is nonsense:
"They mustn't be forced to choose between their health and exercising their constitutional rights"
Does anyone normally ever freak out because some people choose not to vote because they are sick? For some reason, Dewine does not want this primary to occur tomorrow, and I believe that it has little to do with coronavirus. This situation smells to high heaven.

primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

He just issued that statement. I take it he can't legally call off a primary.

Possibly but the issue is whether we continue as a democracy or become something else.

It's crazy to think there could be a fair primary given the current situation
