then a grocery store or Wal Mart sounds like your best bet. Three dollars is better than ten. You can get one of those debit card things at WM to put the rest of your money on.

Many employers use direct deposit nowadays, and some deposit to a debit card through companies that offer the service. My sister used to get her paychecks that way.

I used to cash my checks at the grocery store, back when I couldn't get enough money together to open an account. If you bought groceries at a certain amount, they didn't charge to cash the check back then. Luckily, I was able to keep my state employee credit union account from my last job.
