The whole premise of the movie is thoroughly outdated, of course -- all that effort to move 320GB of data looks silly in the age of BluRay, thumb drives, advanced encryption and dark Internet.

Frankly -- and this may have been just due to the usual toxic effect of Hollywood on anything it touches -- it came down to a sequence of ultra-violent episodes punctuated by a certain amount of suspense.

I've always been impressed with William Gibson's works, so it's not surprising to read that there was lots of studio meddling in the product before release, leaving something that neither the scriptwriter (Gibson) or producer felt was what they had envisioned.
