2. I saw it that summer. I was five years old. . . .

There were no ratings on movies in those days, and my Mother, who worked multiple jobs as she raised four kids on her own, thought it would be a nice break for herself if she sent all the kids to a matinee. Who knew such a flick would play on a summer afternoon at the Strand Theater in Redondo Beach? I doubt my Mom gave the marquee even a passing glance.

It was quite a shit show for her though when we returned home permanently scarred over showers, stairs, and little old ladies sitting peacefully in a chair.
