Maybe we can make the world a better place.

I wrote recently that any act of kindness makes the world a better place, and I firmly believe that. I also think that most people are doing the best they can, or the best they know how to do, no matter what their circumstances. If we can put those two things together, compassion comes forth. It's not so much a matter of faith as it is in recognizing the humanity in other people.
