1. At first I thought they meant splicing DNA from 3 people into one nucleus.

But this doesn't bother me at all. Maybe, 100 generations from now, some geologist will get inaccurate data if they're tracing mitochondria, but that's not too terrible since it would still be coming from someone nearby.

I always thought of mitochondria as separate organisms anyway.
