guns are basically the same as they were at the end of WWI. Almost no advances in functionality.

Things like airbags, anti lock breaks, computer assisted handling and blind spot avoidance have reduced the number of accidents and with them injuries and fatalities. Yet the gun manufacturers fight technology tooth and nail.

Note that the number of gun deaths are growing at the same rate that auto deaths are shrinking.
