Sigh.

HB 700 - an open carry law.

http://blog.chron.com/texaspolitics/2013/01/open-carry-bill-latest-proposal-to-expand-gun-laws-in-texas/

It would "allow individuals with concealed handgun licenses to carry weapons in plain view on a belt or shoulder holster." I'm amazed Texas doesn't already allow this.

http://www.mysanantonio.com/default/article/Legislature-might-revisit-issue-of-guns-on-campus-4202474.php

SB 182 "seeks to ban any public university from prohibiting students, faculty or staff with a concealed handgun license to carry on campus, including classrooms."

But the doozy is HB 1076 from Steve Toth.

It's called the "Firearm Protection Act," and according to that OpEd, has the strongest chance of passing. It's a ban on federal gun bans in the state of Texas, basically. It makes it a criminal offense for anyone to enforce any federal gun regulation passed after January 1, 2013 that is not also a Texas law. Here's the text:

And unless I miss my reading of this, there's language that would support a move to secede from the Union.
