OCCUPY Sydney are set to be booted out of Martin Place after nearly 18 months camping at the city's "premier business and tourist" precinct.

Greens councillor Irene Doutney said Occupy Sydney was the longest running site in the world, a self help group that seeks to feed the homeless and had been recognised for their contribution to the plight of the poor and dispossessed.

"It recently organised itself to be a 24/7 resource and food kitchen. On Saturday night Occupy fed 300 people. They used 1300kg of crowd sourced food. People rarely sleep at the site because they spend most of the time working," she said.

Ms Doutney said the people who complained about Occupy were the same that "complain about unsightly beggars".
