(62,536 posts)Your comments about the Obama-Clinton relationship are completely off base and without merit. Please tell us more about Obama's ploy to not be primaried by Clinton in 2012. That's fascinating as primarying an incumbent Democrat has worked out so well in the past.
As far as gay marriage, I think most Dems have been for it, but states were passing bans all the way up until 2012 for crying out loud. I think the Dem's viewed the SCOTUS as the true route to it and let it play its course through policy makers, state legislatures, state amendments, and court rulings. The pragmatic approach, but slow and steady. BTW, by "most Dems have been for it" I think, either privately, very privately, or personally (in their heads) they've been for it, but were afraid to say so since the bans were going out at such a steady pace. Prop 8 is a fascinating example. Like religion, I think we've had a couple of atheist Presidents already (Bill, Obama, maybe GWB), but they won't state so publicly. So it's hard to swallow when Clinton said she "didn't think about it" and she "came around to it." (Gay marriage.) She likely "already believed" before the polls switched.
As far as the rest of your derisive post, you might enjoy American Experience: Clinton, you can find it on your local PBS affiliate site for free streaming. Just to remind you, a tiny bit, what they put up with in the 90s. Maybe.
