... forbade speaking native languages by the children of every tribe who were kidnapped and forced into schools specifically intended to inculcate their prisoners – and they WERE prisoners, not students – with the supposed "values" of their overlords of European extraction. This evil obscenity was still in practice as recently as the 1970s.
Apparently, there are a multitude of other bigoted policies still in effect that limit educational, and life, choices for Native American children.
