Shoah' Trailer: Claude Lanzmann's Iconic Work To Screen At Berlinale To Mark 40th Anniversary Of Release & 80 Years Since Auschwitz Liberation
Claude Lanzmann's Holocaust film Shoah will screen at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival in February and Deadline can reveal a new trailer and poster.
The screening marks the 80th anniversary year of the end of WWII and the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, as well as the 40th anniversary of the iconic documentarys release in April 1985.
Made over the course of 12 years from interviews with survivors, bystanders and perpetrators, Shoah made cinematic history with its exploration of the systematic extermination of the six million Jews by the Nazis during WWII and runtime of nine hours and 30 minutes in duration.
Paris-based mk2 films, which represents six films by Lanzmann, has commissioned a new poster for the work by acclaimed Polish designer Aleksander Walijewski to accompany the Berlinale screening.
