Einstein knew it. "The distinction between the past, present, and future is but a stubborn illusion." James Taylor knew it too. "Now the thing about time is that time isn't really real." (I will agree that James Taylor is not a great source to reference but I think he nailed this one.)

It should not be said that God is, was, or shall be. God simply is. When Moses asked for a name, God replied "I am (ehyeh)." Ehyeh may be related to the ineffable name of God represented in the Torah by the Tetragrammaton.

Eternity is not the same as forever, it is timelessness. One of the characteristics of God is immutability (along with omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence). God does not change because there is no change in timelessness. God simply is.

Eternity is not permanence, it is simply being. There is no time for change in eternity because there is no time.
