7. Nationwide shortage of beets? Doubtful. This is peak time.

I suspect Dr. Oz was mentioning a brand of bottled beet juice (which he possibly is getting a little sumthin sumthin on the side to push)? I used to work at a health food store and we sold a brand (think it was Swiss) called Biotta. Very pricey.

But here's the real deal: anything pasteurized will render the juice not very helpful for the body. Besides killing the enzymes (which I predict will be acknowledged by scientists, nutritionists and the medical community as a whole as being very important in the assimilation of nutrients within the next ten years), heating and bottling juice creates an acidic connoction. It also deranges all the nutrients like minerals and destroys vitamins.

Get a good juicer. I have one which is a masticating juicer. It's called the Omega 8006. It slowly juices, which produces much less heat and therefore keeps the juice very nutritious and long-lasting in the fridge. It has a 15-year warranty. I paid $300 and free shipping but I think it's even cheaper now.

Juicing beets (or any veggie/fruit) is only slightly messy. In any case, it's easy to clean up and worth the effort for the health benefits. Health is worth the effort and there are no shortcuts. Powders, bottled juices and pills don't cut it! Good luck!
