Off-the-beaten-path in Washington DC??? [View all]

Hello!

Just a little question for y'all... I am heading up to Washington, D.C. on Monday to visit with some friends, and we're looking for some different things to do up there. I lived within an hour of the city while I was in college, so I definitely took advantage of going to the Smithsonian museums, the sites on The Mall, Crime and Punishment Museum, Holocaust Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Walter Reed Museum, the zoo, walked around Georgetown area, saw the documents, etc. etc. Ya know, all the big touristy things.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could give some suggestions for different things to do. We'll be up there early-ish until after dinner (restaurant suggestions would be amazing, too!!). We are taking the metro in from NOVA, so we would need places that could be walked to from a metro stop or using a bus as transport.

Any and all suggestions would be awesome!!!
