Bottom line: In addition to adding muscle, Purdy has absorbed Shanahan's offense so that he can run it by instinct -- a "robotic excellence," to quote the paper.
From the story:
Right now, Im still trying to see this offense and how we play football and why calls are being called through Kyles lens, Purdy said. Thats where Im at. Obviously, his system has been very successful. So I want to see it how he sees it
During the week, we talk about these situations, and Im ready and were on the same page. He calls this play and its like, All right, I know why were running this play. But there have been times in games where hes called a play, and we havent been on the same page. I feel like thats just the young Brock in me. I drop back and I try to make a play, and then I come off and hes like, Dude, just check it down here. Or, Were trying to hit the backside concept to set up third-and-short.
SNIP
Purdy is working to not determine before the snap where he will throw. Its what (QB Coach Brian) Griese terms a fundamental no-no in an offense in which pass plays have a timing and rhythm designed to influence the defense.
Its like, Dont rush to think that youre right and get to this guy as quickly as you can, Purdy said. We have progressions for a reason. Theres concepts of routes ran on the backside for the timing of the play. So you dont just drop back and get rid of it. You go through the read, let it time out and then youre in time to hit it.

The big if here is the health of the team around him, particularly ancient Trent Williams at left tackle and oft-inured Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.
But damn, I like what I hear. This could be great.
