Yes, an extended warranty pays. At least for cars with all the electronics [View all]
I posted here earlier that I had to get a new radio head for my 2014 Kia Soul. It also on occasions affected the radio tuning and the rear view camera.
All the electronic are connected, said the mechanic.
The problem was that within a year after purchase, the dealer decided to not carry the Kia line and the new dealer, of course, had no knowledge of an extended warranty. I vaguely remembered having one but not the specifics.
This was a complicated time for me so I went ahead with the more than $1,000 work.
Later, when things settled for me, I visited the finance office of the original dealer, with all my paperwork and, yes, the warranty, then cost $1,500 was for 10 years. One year left.
So I contacted the insurance company who were very nice, asked me to submit the receipts and to explain why I went head with the job as, of course, a claim has to be submitted before any work is authorized. Still, I explained, apologized and yesterday, lo and behold, a check for $1.000 and come change (they paid $50 less) arrived in the mail.
I may consider getting another warranty one when this one expires.
Yes, spouse's Rav4 also carries an extended warranty.
