It is a pretty solid piece of work and so I am only a page in. I bought it a few years ago while I was in mourning and wanted something to distract my mind. At the time it did not really work.

I was reminded of it last night while idly skimming plot summaries of science fiction I am unlikely to buy. I dug it out and it looks interesting although its sheer size and weight make it somewhat unwieldy.

I had been scanning Roger Zelazny’s Amber Chronicles & some of Heinlein’s work. I came across the concept of narrative exposition while looking Heinlein up. It struck me as far more elegant than infodumps. The latter strike me as closer to fracked out oil gushers than human writing ;-/.

The Feast sounds a bit like Agatha Christie’s “And then there were none” as well as Se7en.
