Spoiler Alert.

At around page 400 my sense was that Katherine Soloman had found that all of our consciousnesses were connected. They do not die with death.

As the book continued and it was known that the CIA was involved, then, it became apparent that the CIA wanted the patent to her book because they wanted to invade the consciousnesses of enemies. They wanted to use the information to invade other countries.

After I was done, I looked up interviews with Dan Brown on youtube and found one you might like. It's called "When Physics Meets Fiction". Physicist Brian Greene interviews Dan Brown. Greene is extremely intelligent and good at questioning Brown. Theories about life, death and consciousness are discussed back and forth. They even got to talking about AI consciousness. The interview is long but worthwhile.
