48 Books That Scared the Bejesus Out of Readers

Goodreads asked fellow readers, “What’s the most terrifying horror novel you’ve ever read?” They responded with some blood-chilling reading, including some true crime they said was more frightening than fiction. Lots of Stephen King, of course. Some really old ones. Shirley Jackson's Haunting of Hill House tops my creepy list. There are some new ones, too.
