Recently two people recommended Charles Todd as a historical mystery writer. **POSSIBLE SPOILERS [View all]

So I gave him a try.

Charles Todd is the pen name of a mother and son who write together. The mysteries are about Ian Rutledge a British detective working after world war one who has some PTSD issues.

The book I tried was called Hunting Shadows, And I couldn’t finish it. It seem like all he did was run from one small town to another, progress was exceedingly slow, and there were too many characters.

It may be that some in the series are better than this one. But I’m not motivated to try any.
