She was a food thief and I had to resort to putting her in jail for time out over the course of about a couple weeks. She finally got the idea and learned to simply put her front paws on my thigh and bump me with her chest while waving an open toed paws up toward what she wanted but not close enough to steal it. Jail was a plastic laundry basket turn up side down with her in it. I would make her stay there for up to 15 minutes, in the middle of the kitchen so she could see me.

When I took her out I would cuddle her and tell her that she needed to change her habits and she did. She only went to jail for jumping up on the table and stealing food off my plate. She was about 6 months old at that point.

Your methods might be better as the rest of the kidcats might get the idea that you have turned into a meanie if you used the jail technique. My little girl was an only child.
