I think I may have tried potatoes years ago but I don't remember the result. This time I'm growing them in a big 24" pot. I've just got maybe one more layer of soil to top them off with. The foliage looks great and it's so tempting to poke down in the dirt to see if there's anything growing under there. I just spotted the first little flower starting today. These are red potatoes.

And I'm trying a crazy thing I saw on youtube, growing some in a cardboard box! I have a bunch of Amazon boxes and one seemed about right to try this as described in the video. It's about 18" long, 8" wide and maybe 12" tall or so. I put 3 red potatoes in, in a row, and all are growing foliage that looks good so far. One was way slower to come up, but it's getting there now. Once the potatoes are (hopefully) harvested the box can go into the recycle bin.
