7. Technically, ANY swelling of or on the thyroid gland is called a "goiter".

...I was surprised to see the word on my ultrasound write-up, because I have
no visible swelling.

The ENT that I went to for an unrelated issue could FEEL it though, which is why
I had the ultrasound.
