5. My best remedy for severe pain was passed on to me by my dentist.

Depending on the severity, I take 1 (or 2) Advil along with 1 Tylenol and it usually works well for me. I think the way it works is that Advil reduces pain through inflammation reduction and Tylenol blocks the pain sensors in the brain so you get a two pronged approach to managing pain. They have even come out with these drugs already combined in OTC variations of Advil and Tylenol.
