Creative Speculation

In September of 2001, our nation no longer had any foreign enemies. (Well, we had North Korea, Iran, but due to the Wall coming down and the Soviet Union disbanding, there was no one body of scary boogey men that we needed a continuous huge military spending spree for.)

But after Nine Eleven, we had over one billion Muslim terrorists who needed to be purged from the face of the earth.

Our military budget has ballooned so that the military spending of this nation is equivalent to the joint military spending of the next 26 large spending nations combined!

We also are told by politicians that we need to have an Overall Surveillance mechanism in place, and that too has been a money hungry venture. Homeland Security and local police forces have more money than they know what to do with. (In Santa Rosa Calif., the police department had so0 much money one summer that the police went door to door, ostensibly trying to help people who might need food stamps or AFDC but did not know about those programs being available.)

Meanwhile our individual states have less and less money for things. Schools are suffering. Colleges now increase their tuitions as the Fed Government is giving the states less money.

And in California, many fire fighting district shave been purged as well - which is a damn shame. I am far more afraid of Calif wildfires than any Muslim terrorist.
