Putting faces and names to victims won't help to humanise them for the "Israel Is Always Right" brigade, but for most others, especially those overwhelmed by the sheer number of civilians who have been killed, it would help.

The article mentions that he was previously abducted by the IDF.

'Months earlier, Ziyad was abducted by the Israeli army from the home he eventually died in, and held for several months. When he was finally released, he couldn’t recognise Khan Younis, where he grew up. The destruction was so complete it obliterated most familiar landmarks of the city and camp. The streets he had once known were unrecognisable ruins. But what he recognised was the tenacity of the people who face up to any danger to bring hope and healing.'

I'm about to post an article about another man who was abducted, this time in the West Bank by settlers and the IDF. There used to be a time in this forum where a few pro-Israel DUers would speak out against the excesses of the IDF and the settlers, but no more. Now it's ignore and move on, instead. There's important work to be done like keeping a track of people posting prolifically at DU
