The Real Reason Iranians Are Demanding Regime Change - William Spaniel [View all]

Major protests on the streets of Iran drew attention to the various problems that the country is facing: a major drought, electricity shortages, and runaway inflation. However, this discussion overlooks a critical underlying factor: Iran's nuclear program. Without the nuclear program, it is unlikely that Iran would be suffering from any of those, or at least not to the extent that is happening now. This also calls into question a second conventional wisdom: that nuclear weapons are the ticket to regime safety.
