4. I had a microwave break once

The spring that operated the latch to hold the door shut broke, me being the frugal and energy efficient person I am bought a generic spring at the hardware store and replaced it.

It would still work before I replaced the spring, you just had to hold the door shut.

The actual microwave generating portion of a microwave is pretty darn simple, that's why they're so rugged.
