Back in the 1970s when we had the first hints that global warming was happening right before our eyes, the population of the Earth was only 4 billion. Now we have 8 billion, and more widespread industrialization.

Oil consumption was 63.5 million barrels per day in 1975. In 2024 it was 101.8 million barrels per day, a new record high.

It's like we're not even trying.
