And I remember Mount St. Helens. I had just started working with TV stations on the Northern West Coast and there was one PBS station which could not send me a schedule since they were buried in volcanic ash. So I followed what was happening there closely. I remember Harry Truman who refused to evacuate and how President Carter viewed the aftermath via helicopter.
