When I was a teacher for 6th and 1st graders this was one of my lessons [View all]

Skip to the 2 minute time stamp for the lyrics and tune.

Both age groups loved it!!! I chose to incorporate this into my music lessons (I had to teach ALL subjects to 35 students each day without an aide so I had to carefully plan my time and lessons).

Both the 11 year olds and 6 year olds never heard of it before (too young for Schoolhouse Rock) so I had to find the VHS tape and play it on the crappy school's TV/VCR. The quality did not matter, the students ate it up!!!!!

When kids hear music with anything they remember it a lot and are happy to hear whatever is played. It's a great combination. They were able to learn the lyrics after only seeing it twice and when we discussed the meaning they understood what it was teaching.

Who says TV isn't educational?!? I wish more teachers did this.
