Fact Check Team: Should schools return to remote learning? [View all]

WASHINGTON (TND) — America is seeing about 268,000 new cases of COVID-19 per day as omicron rages through the country. Now, some schools are making plans for remote learning until the virus is under control.

The National Desk’s Fact Check Team has been researching districts nationwide and the impact of school closures on children’s health.

Chicago Public Schools gave out 150,000 take-home coronavirus testing kits ahead of winter break in an effort to keep cases low when classes return at the district’s more than 650 schools. If there is an outbreak, they’ve geared up for remote learning by purchasing 100,000 laptops.

Some districts across the country have already made the call for remote learning or are putting in some mandates in place before kids and teachers return to school.
