back in the 1940s who was named Mel Famey. He once walked the first 5 batters he faced and was benched.
The other Manager walked over to the dugout, pointed to the 8 empty beer cans on the ground where he had been sitting, and said, “That’s the beer that made Mel Famey walk us.”
