a good place to start some new conversation.

Part of the problem is that whenever these conversations pop up, it's always about rights and ignoring responsibilities-- this one at least starts to touch on that. It's also ignoring questions like when the lady doctor takes off to have her kids, who then pays her expenses if she didn't save enough to pay for herself?

We're still stuck with biology and men don't carry and bear the children or breastfeed. Over the millennia since we became sentient we evolved a system where childcare was the central issue. Women became smaller because they were at home taking care of the kids and doing small stuff at home or on the farm while men were away on the hunt or warring with the next tribe. Simplistic, but it sorta worked for hundreds of thousands of years.

But, now size and strength aren't necessary for most jobs, and women don't need a man around the house for protection or food, so the old roles are changing. Biology hasn't changed, however and while it seems society is dealing with it, if somewhat clumsily, the wailing voices in the desert for whom every ray of sunshine must have a cloud are still out there screaming how they are being abused.

We're all abused-- deal with it.
