It is an uncomfortable topic for most people, even SAS. Men are often shamed if they are victims of sexual assault, even boys are blamed if it happens to them. It reinforces a very negative stereotype men are not vulnerable creatures, and if we are, we are weak, and thus, anything which happens is because of our weakness. Gay men get this treatment from mainstream outlets on occasion, because our "weakness" is our sexuality.

There is a part of the article about a study in which men weren't even sure if they could get emergency treatment. I wonder what a survey like that would reveal if done in the US.
