10. After Bush, especially in 2004, I'm not counting on the voting public to do the right thing just yet

It has all the signs of a major blowout, but goofy stuff happens. If not for the perfect storm and a tiny bump in the polls at the last minute (among other issues, like Ohio), Bush loses in 2004.

That being said, you can't lose nearly every demographic group and win a national election. Electorally, this has the hallmarks of a beatdown. If so, the Senate and some significant migration in the House would be helpful.
