5. Very strange and sad night.

On the one hand it takes me back to the Rodney King uprising in 1992 which I remember vividly. Lots of suspicious fires left to develop into total losses, each breathlessly broadcast on a brand-new all-news channel, stand-downs by the cops, lots of property destroyed. The result was that L.A.'s beloved African-American mayor ended his fourth term in disgrace. Tom Bradley was his name. 52 people killed too I believe.

On the other hand I'm glad PBO has a handle on this one and knew what to say and when to say it. But all in all not a good night.
