The first being Sgt. Peppers. Both of them were birthday presents, I believe my 5th and 6th, respectively. My parents owned them both, but I wanted my own, so I could play them whenever I wanted, on my little 'suitcase' style record player, the kind with the three colored lights in the top half, behind a piece of plastic, so that you'd see this little light show flashing along with the music as it played. It was the 1973 version of the ipod

Pretty sure I still know damn near every word to every song, and could sing it off the top of my head, in something very close to the right key. To this day, all those songs from Tapestry take me back to being a little boy, when I was first discovering the joy of music.

I love, love, love me some Carole King. One of the greatest songwriters to ever walk this planet. This celebration of her work is well deserved..
