1. Yep NoScript was very illuminating.

I ran it on my 10 y/o computer to keep it uncluttered. It made me much more careful about what I download or looked at. I't amazing how much junk follows you around the net - like Jacob Marley in "A Christmas Carol" "I forged these chains in life..."
Haven't put NoScript on my new machine yet. It is a pain because you have to manually allow every script.
