it might be something not easily fixed. The only computer repair place in my town charges a lot even for tweaks, and I'm a klutz at trying to fix things like this, so if I find myself in over my head trying to, when the flickering becomes unmanageable I'll buy a new one.

I'll check online for a how-to and see what happens when I try it.
