and one of the really terrible things I am learning is the way the European diseases acted as a plague to the Native Americans. There are estimates that 90% of the Native American population died from European diseases between about 1500 and 1700 (those are not sourced dates, but just the impression I have of the time period from what I am reading.)

Did the same happen with the Aboriginal Australian population?
