Coconut "bomb" forces temporary closure of Mukilteo's Lighthouse Park [View all]

EVERETT —Police reopened Lighthouse Park Tuesday morning after a coconut “bomb” was found in the area.

Around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a coconut that appeared to have a drilled hole, a fuse and black powder inside at 609 Front Street in Mukilteo. Officers cleared and temporarily closed the park and boat launch, according to a Mukilteo Police Department social media post

The Washington State Patrol and King County Bomb Squad confirmed the device was not an explosive, the post said.

Officers reopened the park and boat launch shortly after 9 a.m.
