Monday, Nov. 20 — Shortly before 5 a.m. today, Fairfax Police officers responded to a single vehicle high-speed crash in the 2600 block of Pioneer Lane on Shreve Road between Rt. 29 and Rt. 7. The accident has sent six local teenagers, all ages 14 to 17, to the hospital with “critical, significant, serious injuries.” according to Lt. Curry of the Fairfax Police speaking with reporters at the scene.

The driver of the Lincoln SUV, is identified as a 14-year old and has been arrested for driving under the influence. He was wearing a seatbelt, but other passengers in the car were not. When the driver, who lost control heading southbound on Shreve Rd., hit a tree coming over the crest, five passengers were ejected and a sixth had to be extricated from the vehicle.

As of 10:45 a.m. Shreve Rd. was reopened to traffic.
