... the point it should be mandatory in schools. Just about every kid these days are exposed to firearms one way or another from someone showing off and handing it to someone, to a kid coming across one some untrained adult left poorly hidden or under a sofa cushion loaded and chambered.

I had NRA training at 14 and have yet to try to clean a loaded weapon. That old "cleaning a loaded gun" saw is used to cover up a lot of other reasons, usually involving alcohol or yee hawing with a couple of friends in the basement or backyard.

I'd go further than than safety locks, a minimum would be the double safety, as on an APC 1911. But what I want is a safety that only allows one person to fire the weapon, like a chip with a ring that has a chip.

I'm not arguing with you, I just think your good idea benefits from some expansion.
