parents of teenage pitchers will request the surgery prior to injury in hopes that the kid will be able to throw harder with less risk of injury. That's just plain stupid. The largest group of people having the surgery now are ages 15-19 which includes both injured and not injured. I find it weird that a doctor would perform a surgery like this in a situation where no injury exists.
